Hatfield/Carroll Family Prayer Fund

Nate Hatfield of Woodlawn, an 8 year old classmate of my daughter Gracie, and his grandmother, Libby Carroll, were in an automobile accident Tuesday, April 28, 2009. Apparently, Mrs. Carroll pulled out in front of a log truck heading north on Highway63. Mrs. Carroll was pronounced dead at the scene and went on to be with our Lord. While Little Nate is left fighting. Nate was transported to JRMC in Pine Bluff and later, that evening to Arkansas Children's Hospital. Nate is suffering from severe head trauma and injuries to his abdomen. We are here for prayer and updates for the family. Please feel free to leave any heart-warming messages or prayers that you would like. His mom and dad are David and Brandy Carroll. He has an older brother, Michael and a sister the same age, Emily. A PayPal account has been set up with all donations going directly to the family. To make a donation, click here.

Last update on Nate was this morning from the Superintendent at Woodlawn School, he stated that Nate was in critical but Stable condition at Arkansas Children's Hospital. He said that were waiting on a MRI but his brain waves were gradually getting back to normal.

I talked to Bonnie Gavin this morning she went up there last night.

He is still in critical but stable condition. They have him sedated to unconsciousness b/c they are keeping him very very cold and he is on a ventilator, but only b/c they have him so sedated.

He has a gauge in his head to monitor the pressure. They do not want it to go below 50 and he's been staying between 54 -80's The neurologists said they could take that out now. So they may do that today. They are also reducing the ventilator back so that he can breathe on his own.

He has no broken bones only a fracture in three places on his face (forehead, cheek and chin) in a straight line down. and bruises where the seatbelt crossed his chest and tummy.

She said he is doing great, but not out of the woods yet. Said they didn't mention anything about any brain damage, but didn't think they had checked that yet. b/c they do not want any activity or stimulation in his brain at this point. when Brandy goes in to see him, they cannot talk to him or touch him. Because they do not want to produce any stimulation which could cause the brain cells to become active which could then cause swelling to reoccur.

That is all I know right now.
